classiclaugh: Hey! I'm a fellow Wisconsin thrifter (really didn't know any others existed actually) and I saw your thrift map you wanna add to. Besides my own secret list of hot spots, I would check out websites for The Thrift Shopper or Discount Picker for new locations to add. I always go to them when looking for new places. Reviews are really hit and miss though - but I guess that gives you a chance to try it out for yourself with no expectations set. :)

Hello, I love to hear about fellow thrifters! I’m trying to make a great collection of thrift stores that’s actually reliable. It’s a little sparse right now, so thanks so much for the tips!

Goodwill, Green Bay, WI

There really wasn’t anything great at this goodwill. I’m having slight non-buyers remorse not buying the FBI shirt, but I’m sure there’s one million of these out there.

Thrifting Tips - Keep it Quick and Sane

  1. Prepare for a lack of dressing rooms by bringing a camera. Have a friend snap a picture, so you know how it looks. Also wear minimal clothes, so you can try things on over your clothes.
  2. Start with accessories - shoes and purses are easier to sort through.
  3. When you go through the aisles of shirts, skirts, pants and dresses, look for patterns and fabric you like. Look at those items, and you’ll have considerably less to go through.
  4. Stalk the dressing rooms and check out the stuff on the go-back rack.
  5. Follow attractive, stylish people - solid advice in general, and they may put things down which you can snatch up.
  6. Don’t forget the Children’s department - sweaters, shirts, and dresses are sometimes big enough for adults.
  7. Bring snacks - eventually you will need to refuel.
  8. Check signs for discount colors and other sales. Many stores do a discount by the color of the price tag’s plastic attachment, which can be easy to miss.

Ralph’s Antiques, Green Bay, WI

Even from the outside, I could tell that this place was a destination. Walking by the owners car, there was a pig in the passenger seat

Here’s Ralph, check out how claustrophobic this place is

Reminded me of a place the American Pickers would go!
